A Visit to Little Malvern Court, 1st May 2006

Early rain had turned to sun by the time we arrived at Little Malvern Court for the opening of the gardens for this year. The House and gardens are open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer from  2 p.m. until 5 p.m., latest admission 4.30 p.m. This is a beautiful 14th. Century Prior's Hall that was once attached to the 12th. Century Priory, with later Victorian additions.

Admission fees at time of writing (May 2006) -

House & Garden - Adult £5.50, Child £2.00

House OR garden - Adult £4.50, Child £1.00

Parties (up to 35) by arrangement, tel. 01684 892988

It has been the home of the Berington family since the dissolution and stands in ten acres of former monastic grounds featuring a wide variety of old roses, topiary and some magnificent old trees. It is easily found on the A4104 heading towards Upton-upon-Severn and is signposted from the A449 Great Malvern - Ledbury road on the Worcestershire side of British Camp. All that now remains of the old Priory (which us open all the time) stands behind the Court but it is in itself an imposing building and in regular use for Christian worship. Of particular interest are the medieaval floor tiles and twelfth-century misericordes. All well worth a visit after tramping the hills!
