The Walk

 

For fine views across the rolling Worcestershire countryside this walk is to be recommended.   Allow two and a half hours to enjoy a leisurely stroll and taking in the fine views of the National Trust property, Hanbury Hall.  Better still, make time to visit as well.

 

Parking at Hanbury Church (see above map) take the footpath across the Hanbury estate and over towards Summer Hill. Head towards the railway and then onto the Worcester and Birmingham canal footpath.  Enjoy fine views at Pipers Hill before descending back to Hanbury Church.

 

Hanbury Hall

 

Do make time before or after your walk as Hanbury church and the Hall are well worth a visit.  Given to the National Trust in 1940, Hanbury Hall was built by Thomas Vernon in the late 1600’s with the completion date of 1701 clearly inscribed above the doorway.   The hall is famous for its outstanding collection of wall and ceiling murals designed by Sir James Thornhill.  Hanbury Hall is open from March – October each year.   The fine gardens, national trust shop, tea-room, orangery, and in spring,  ‘the primrose walk’  are well worth visiting.
